Does anyone know if taxis wait at the Tukwila Amtrak station? It has been a few years since I've been there. I'll be coming up from Oregon and need to get from Amtrak to the airport to pick up a rental car. It seems like a waste of time to ride the train all the way downtown just to have to turn around and hop on light rail to go south again. Also, this will be happening on New Year's Day when Metro is on a holiday schedule.

My thought was, if taxis don't routinely wait at that station, to call for a taxi while I'm still on the train and schedule a pickup. Anyone ever tried this before? Do you think it will work?

Is there a reason you can't get a rental car downtown? That seems like an easier option. In any case, I wouldn't expect to see too many taxis at that Amtrak station. Calling for one is probably your best option.

I've found it far cheaper to pick up rental cars downtown than at the airport.
