- Went to a business school for my bachelors.
- I hate my major.
- Can't get a proper job.

I NEED A CHANGE. I LIKE PHYSICAL WORK.

Go to school to be a licensed contractor. There are trade schools that can teach you those skills.

Most parents would be thrilled to have a child in a skilled trade. Yours will too, I'm betting.

» Wood Technology Center » Seattle Central College » Seattle Marine Carpentry (Boatbuilding), Cabinet Making & Carpentry Programs

Sell them with this program. State of the art.

use your degree to grow your business to where you get to manage other carpenters. However you need to get your feet wet, so go for it, learn the skills for credibility purposes, then move on. Its also a good trade to fall back on in case you ever did go corporate

Education is important, whether you're going into astrophysics, business or carpentry. Some jobs need more school than others but all of them need equal amounts of education. Besides, maybe one day you'll own a carpentry shop and benefit from the knowledge you acquired in school.

Here's a current, real life example of something like that. Has everyone heard the news of Beats selling to Apple? It's making Dr. Dre the first billionaire rapper. Now, I don't listen to rap and I don't know much about Dre but I looked him up and he started rapping in the 80s but stopped around 2000 to start producing and managing other rappers (Snoop Dog, Eminem...a few others). Then he started a business making headphones, a drastic but logical step if you enjoy music. So we have a man who originally loved music but later finding that he actually has some very good business savvy. I don't think he went to college but he certainly became educated about business and now makes a lot of money doing something I assume he loves, but on a larger scale than he originally anticipated.

You'll probably make better money as a carpenter, and your job is extremely unlikely to be outsourced to China or Bangladesh.

Make a business plan. You should do that regardless of how your parents feel about this. Figure out whsy you need to do to become a carpenter and how you are going to realistically make an income that can support yourself. DO THIS before you pursue this and decide you hate it. Then show your parents.
