Hello there,

I'm a 25 year old guy looking to move to Seattle. So, I'm definitely breaking new ground here, right? In any case, I'm a teacher, and I've been researching school districts up there for quite some time. I may be horribly misguided, but I believe I have a pretty good teaching resume so far--working in an inner-city district in Texas, teaching AP, and leading my team. However, I'm still a little worried about finding a spot up there.

My questions, if anyone would be so wonderful and kind as to answer them, are these:

1) What are the best districts to teach in? Like I said, I've been looking into this for some time, and I'm looking at Issaquah, Mercer Island, Bellevue, and Lake Washington. However, I also haven't been able to find sources younger than three years old.

2) What do teachers with a few (3-4) years experience typically make up there? I've looked at the abysmal salary schedules, but all my research has shown that the average pay for teachers in those districts is quite a bit higher than the salary schedules show. Is there a reason for the discrepancy? Am I just a fool?

I would be incredibly grateful for any and all wisdom!

I know teachers that are very happy in both the Issaquah and Lake Washington Districts. Actual pay is easily available by name, school, district or job title. The Tacoma News Tribune does a public disclosure request annually.
The data is just a year behind.
