I, for one, would love it. Interesting: Seattle Sin Bin: Bettman talks to Baker - Sonics Rising

I actually think the NHL will come to Seattle at some point. The NHL commissioner has stated that Seattle is on the list for expansion, they did market studies and found that we live in a good market to support a team. Las Vegas is also a strong contender at the moment. However, we also need to show dedication to building a new arena in order for the NHL to take us seriously.

That's all I know.

I hope not, because pro sports has proven time and time again that it will not rest until it has picked the taxpayer's pocket. We can't seem to come up with the money to care for the mentally ill in this state

And we're going to build yet another tax-funded pro sports stadium for a billionaire owner and millionaire players? We're still paying off the KingDome. We have an empty key arena that was built 20 years ago, 1995. Don't try to kick this ball again, Charlie Brown.

The Kingdome is paid for. And Tukwila sounds like they are so eager they want to fast-track it.

Seems pretty likely that we'll get an NHL franchise, and much sooner than an NBA franchise. Supposedly, the Tukwila site will not require a taxpayer subsidy.

move to Alaska. They don't have any sports or stadiums to worry about.

I would predict that the Seattle area will get a team and arena, just not in Seattle. I think the city missed their opportunities with the NBA, and the Hansen plan would not be approved for just hockey. If this Tukwila plan doesn't go through some other nearby suburb city will come up with a better plan, and move faster.

Silly thought, but couldn't the Tacoma Dome suffice for 2 years until an arena is built? A few pre-season games were played there in the 90s?

Las Vegas would have no pro sports competition. Seattle has three teams including the popular Sounders and a big UW program.
