Personally, I think I'd catch a cheap flight to Dallas or Chicago if I was going to spend that kind of money on a coat. (I'd pick Dallas just because the winter weather is a bit nicer this time of year compared to Chicago. And Dallasites really like to shop.)

Filson, an outfitter which has been in Seattle since 1898, has a men's genuine shearling wool coat, but no women's. It could work, however, if wanting more of a "fashion-backwards" (hunter-chic, if you will) look. The price is less than half what I've seen other non-faux coats going for.

Still, as others have noted, typical NW winters tend to not require the kind of insulation genuine-shearling coats provide, with temperatures seldom dipping below freezing. Here, "layering" is king.

Thank you everyone for your reply!

Maybe you could advice me on the cities in US where I can look for this type of coat (apart from Chicago and Dallas)?

Thanks!

Let's return to the question: Why pay $1,000-1,500 for a coat that you might need one month or less out of the year? Seattle is not Wyoming.

I'm not leaving in Seattle. I'm from Norway. But will be traveling to USA sometimes. And I really need this coat. Norway is the **** market for buying anything really :-)

With the strong dollar in the U.S. and Norwegian import duty/sale tax (35%?), you might want to consider shopping outside the U.S. For instance:

Ladies sheepskin coats | Shearling coats |Sheepskin duffle coat | Sheepskin flying jacket | Ladies shearling jackets and hats and scarves to match | Made by us |Bespoke service available

You can shop online or for the personal bespoke service come & visit our workshop in Somerset (please ring to make an appointment first). We also offer an alteration & repair service – please ring for details.
