Wondering if the old coke machine is just an urban legend OR if it really does sit on the corner of John and Broadway in south Capitol Hill. Bumped into mention of it on the 'net and wondering if I should go look for it in August when in Seattle.

Here's an article about it from a couple years ago. Haven't been there myself.

More likely it is owned by the owner of the property it is sitting on. Could be making a pretty penny, or it wouldn't still be there.

Strange. You would expect ta see someone walk to it and take the change out and re-stock soda on some kind of a regular basis. Someone needs to videotape the spot and report back to us, eh?

It looks like it's plugged in to some electrical outlet that feeds into the locksmith. Unless everybody is getting warm sodas. So I would guess it's the locksmith (who would also be paying for the electricity) and they just deny it to keep the mystery alive. Undoubtedly the mystery adds to business, and maybe they just re-stock it at, like, 3 in the morning:

Nice work, Bond! I already was with you on the 3:00AM stocking time. The part about the locksmith denying the soda service to add mystery and intrigue and continued patronage: I'll buy that until someone else can come up with something more valid.

You guys are taking all the fun out of it, who wants to solve a cool mystery like this? Let it be, it stocks itself. Inanimate objects in Seattle, if exposed to enough second hand cannabis vapor, can do that. Case closed.

homes - I can sort of see your point. Since I'm watching these guys on the History Channel stating that they have evidence that Amelia Earhart landed on a South Pacific island controlled by the Japanese in 1937. She and her navigator were captured and taken to another island they held called Saipan and executed. So I'm in "mystery solved" mode here.

The pop machine mystery is not as exotic of a story as Amelia Earhart's, yet still kind of weird. We could just let it rest as "unsolvable", eh?

I can vouch it is still there, I passed it a few days ago.

As far as worth seeing, well, I guess you get the novelty of an old vending machine, and the mystery of which flavor will come out.
