Tons of Texas and Arizona, and sometimes New Mexico and Utah plates on the roads. California, too, of course. Is there a particular reason? It's like everyone there decided to move here. Kinda bizarre. Lots of big trucks, often with obnoxious stickers on them, such as Texas Gal, Proud to Be a Texan, Cowboys and Texans decals, really loud proclamations about how conservative they are. Don't let the weird natives and liberal politics grind your gears too much. You came here by choice, after all.

So they have stickers about their politics. WTF is it to you? As long as nobody's actually coming up to you giving you flak, jeez. Mellow out.

Jobs, money to be made here, plain and simple. This holds true whether you are a developer or pipe fitter. People are moving here from all over the world, they come and fly their colors, that's just human nature.

Want to see something funny? Go to that venerable country/western bar The Little Red Hen at Green Lake. Great real country dancing and live music. The crowd is about 1/3 displaced Southerners, 1/3 real country people from WA state and 1/3 hipsters who think the place is cool and different (it is). I have been there a number of times seeking something authentic and non-formulaic, ended up stomping awkwardly on the dance floor and throwing back a few Jim Beams. For the record, I also like classical, jazz and reggae. I am a Gemini, after all .

Hey, question here from a native Seattleite. What has become of Parker's auditorium on Aurora Avenue 99? Is it still open for rock and roll? Good memories of shows from the 70's at that place.

I thankfully escaped Texas many years ago 30 + years except 2. I HAD to go home to help dad when he died in '02 and it was HORRIBLE . Those you see are the new ones who have just left . It will take time for life to school them .
I did not stay as long as most but you are literally trained that YOU are most special because you come from Texas.
No one else is special because they were so sadly unfortunate NOT to have come from Texas.
Seahawks ?? what Seahawks , don't you know there are only TWO teams in the NFL Dallas and Houston !!!
You can over come any accident or illness because you are a Texan - I've seen people die that way .
There is no better place on the face of the earth than Texas and they are on a misson to spread a word no one cares about.
Decades later I just say I am from the south IF anyone asks.. If pressed I say Louisiana . I lived close enough and can go undercover as one if need be -Sha

Umm, it's summer road trip time. Why do you assume they all are moving there?

We just moved here from Texas, originally from California. Moved to Texas 12 years ago because of the cheap cost of living, now Texas got very expensive.

So we figured if we are going to be paying a ton to live, might as well live in an awesome place. So we came back to the west coast. My home town San Jose was out of our budget but Seattle fit.

I can see that . A lifelong gf from Austin whos mom is a socialite and her dad a 55 year long ob-gyn before he finally retired ( they are VERY elderly and still live in that big house in town ) says it is now unlivable for most people - even her . She goes to Austin now to visit her parents and lives in Abilene .. but she is part of my horse circle as well so we have to be in places where we can afford to do what we do . Here I have been pretty dormant unless working at Emerald for various trainers and a few show horses I show $$$ for other people out in Tenino .
I like that Tenino area actually and would not mind having my own small place out there again .
