That is partly true, but you still need to deal with property taxes.

You gotta make the big bucks. I would like to see some more affordable housing though.
I got priced out of Colorado in the 1970's, fled to WA, where my Property taxes increased from $800 / yr to $14,400 / yr in less than 10 yrs. I now pay $48/day in WA Property taxes. (same house / improvements... just more worn out)

Yup. priced out AGAIN! (3rd time in my life)

Very TOUGH to move and re-create a FARM ~ 10 yrs to build up soil value / barns / water systems / fences / roads / orchards... (the HOUSE is the simple part!)

Property tax rate is low here and insignificant for your typical suburban place on a postage stamp lot(or condo/townhouse) compared to rent increases.

That's pretty amazing. We thought the taxes on our 3,000 sf house in Sammamish was bad, at $6,500/year. That seems very reasonable now, considering it's only $18/day. You must have a lot of acreage.

People who move here from New England, NYC, California, DC and a number of other places tell me that the property tax rates in Seattle are lower than where they came from. The problem here, of course, is that the property values have gone up, therefore higher taxes.

Of course. But the actual dollar amount paid back in Ohio was still more for property valued 1/3 as much as what we have here. And we had state and local income taxes on top of that.
