I don't think anybody in Seattle feels superior because Bill Gates lives here. Lots of people are glad that he's devoted a lot of his money to good causes.
On the other hand, it seems that when Gates or anybody in his family want anything from elected officials, maybe it happens a little too readily?
An example is the Art Museum's Sculpture Park. Bill Gates' stepmom is the executive director of the Art Museum, and a couple of years ago the museum purchased a bunch of land for the sculpture park, except the land that housed the maintenance facility for the Waterfront Streetcar, a popular and beloved antique transportation choice and tourist attraction. Rather than resist or make Gates or the museum pay for the facility's relocation, the Mayor and County Exec just gave in and vacated the property, shutting down the streetcar so the Art Museum could have it's way...I still believe that this would not have happened if Gates' stepmom did not run the museum.

No.
My nephews were thrilled to trick-or-treat at his house a few years back though (well, the guard shack to his house). They each got a HUGE candy bar (the big ones that sell for a couple bucks each). Made their day.

That's like asking me when I lived in Sac, do I feel like I can kick a$$ because the Governator was there....

What a weird Q.

I don't think the question is weird so much as how he/she asked the question was a bit odd.

Many people are fascinated by the thought of living so close to one of the world's richest men and arguably one of the most famous. I know when I first moved to Seattle I was always curious if I would ever "bump into" Bill Gates while walking around town, or at the movies, or at the park..etc. I never did

Yeah, someone rich or famous probably lives near all of us. I know Bill Gates is the richest but still... and I have never bumped into him either. LOL

My dad bumped into Bill Gates YEARS ago - back before the big Windows boom. They were in an elevator together.

Back when he was really geeky and young, my dad said he smelled. :P (that's all hearsay of course)
