Lifetime Piglet Sounder and seriously considering a move to AZ soon. Traffic, COL, and weather have wore me out.
Grew up in Gig Harbor, a couple of years Tacoma and B'ham but most my adult life Seattle.

I loved Seattle, truly, madly, deeply.

We've simply matured in different directions.

C'mon Seattle! Don't cry, it's me, not you. Well, it's you and me but think of this as an opportunity! I'm out, some sexy 6 figure earning, Tesla driving, engineer/geek is in. He'll be a much better tax payer and won't want the big lawn.

It's for the best.

Earlier in the week, someone's Tesla burst into flames on the highway in Albuquerque. Tesla pretended they were surprised, and said they'd "look into it". They know full well the battery packs have a tendency to do this, as it's happened before, after their first batch of roadsters rolled off the assembly line. They took steps to remedy it, but apparently it's still a problem.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to move to AZ, if I were you. After you've lived there awhile, you'll view the Northwest's rain and gloom differently. A curse will become a blessing. Take it from someone who's been there, and did that. I'm aiming to move back to Pug Sound. Do you really want to live somewhere, that requires you to hide out indoors with the A/C 5-6 months out of the year? Think long and hard before you do that to yourself. Flagstaff might be ok, but still hot 3 months/year.

Is there a Pooh Sound?

Not to worry, Greenville is way up west along the Blue Ridge. Just up over the ridge, the elevation rises, temperatures drop, and summers are more pleasant.

We are in the Appalachians so it's a bit cooler in summer. Plenty of swimming holes around. On really hot days we take the canoe out to the lake. Night's always cool down. Good luck.

Native Seattle area resident here. OP, your sentiments echo MANY other folks here - the topic of Seattle's skyrocketing COL and other issues comes up almost every day in conversations I have. I was out with a couple of friends last night, and the topic came up - both of them (as well as myself) are considering leaving, and several other friends are as well.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's exciting to see my hometown prosper w/the economic boom - but it's also going through some serious growing pains that I'm not sure I feel like sticking around for (i.e - waiting years for good mass transit to finally be built when traffic is already a nightmare, among other things), and there's certain things I don't like about here too (that are starting to bother me more).

OP, I say change is healthy, and to go for the move - I think it's important to answer the urge/need for something/somewhere new. As for myself, if I leave, I'm debating between going to CA (any of the major metros, but there is arguably the most opportunity w/my degree [that I just finished] in the Bay Area), or going somewhere more affordable like NC (Raleigh/Charlotte), where there is still great scenery/outdoor activity options not too far away. I haven't ruled out Denver or the northeast either.

There are 150-200K car fires per year, with internal combustion engine cars catching fire at a hire rate than Teslas, but they don't hit the news every time because the Tesla fire stories are sexier

Is that near Giggle Harbor? I think I've heard of it. Kind of a grey, dreary place, according to rumor...
