Not confirmed yet and I'm really hoping this isn't true, holding out for Sockeyes. Here's the article: https://sports.mynorthwest.com/76330...en-team-name/?

I wouldn’t mind. Not crazy about naming them after a fish and I love salmon.

Lol I don't like any of these proposed names. In hindsight, Seattle should have named the NHL team the Sounders, and the soccer team Seattle FC or Seattle United or something.

Sounders is a team that existed long before MLS.

I'm hoping for Sockeyes, too.

Kraken is OK, but Sockeyes has a nicer ring to it.

Well, Kevin Smith’s twitter likes it:

SEATTLE! If you name your new @NHL team the KRAKEN, so help me Zeus, I will become a big, fat Krak-Head! Release the Kraken - the most absolutely metal name for hockey team since the @NJDevils! (Also: RT #BellLetsTalk* all day, whenever you can!)

I just don't get why we aren't calling them the Metros/Metropolitans and fully restoring our historical Stanley Cup winning team? The name is simple and perfectly representative of the area (as Seattle has grown from a rough logging town to a fully recognized metropolitan gem) and not super cheesy. All you need to do is simply add a updated logo and newish colors/jerseys, otherwise your ready to go.

It's sorta like finally getting back a NBA team and refusing to call them the Sonics and restore the team that had/has always represented Seattle through history. Yes, I know technically it won't be the same team and I'm game for finding some non-Christmas PJ looking jerseys like they had. But it's continuing an important yet nearly forgotten Seattle team and to me it would be weird to do anything else after all this. Meanwhile this waiting/guessing game on these "fan" options is getting ridiculous and tiresome; just give us the name and let us start getting excited for the team.
