What are the police to do? First they are being told to stop arresting people who aren't committing crimes, and now they are being told to arrest people who are committing crimes. It's not like they actually observed this and then stood back and let it repeatedly happen, because, you know, it would be so bad if you lowered our funding and someone came and smashed your windows. We wouldn't want that to happen, would we?

And it's working. I am holding my nose and voting Republican for possibly the first time ever in my life.

Did you read this? https://komonews.com/news/local/seattle-police-prepare-for-weekend-protests-chief-best-tells-officers-to-not-risk-safety

The genuflecting city council ignored reason and forethought. They were reactionary and now we will all see just how badly they shot themselves in the foot.... such shocking stupidity!

It appears they are all but planning for businesses to get hammered this weekend. We KNOW it's going to happen. We know property is going to be ruined and taken. We know it's going to cost lots of money. And we know that the police aren't going to be able to stop it.

If the only relief Seattle businesses get is through an order from the President than so be it.

The city and state can step back off with their tails between their legs like untrained, pampered, coddled, defenseless dogs. They can stand there quivering as real authority asserts itself. And good luck to those willing to mess with the feds...

Well, according to many prior C-D/Seattle relocation inquiry threads, a good chunk of the population are health care professionals (doctors, nurses), techies, and other solidly middle-class professional types, who can afford the higher rent to be near downtown. Are you sure that most of the people causing the destruction are local full-time residents?

Given the ages I think they're often the children of health care professionals, techies and other solidly middle-class professional types.

Middle class people can't afford downtown. Maybe Lake Stevens.
