Is it true that you don't need a degree to become a Mortgage Loan Officer in or around Seattle? How does someone who is reliable, smart, and dependable, yet who has no experience in the industry, try to break into this field? (Is it even realistically possible?)

Here you go, this lays out the process pretty well. Most mortgage brokers I know worked in the industry as an assistant until they learned more about it. https://www.oncourselearning.com/mor...o-career-guide

IDK, OP; the only mortgage brokers I knew in Seattle had degrees in a relevant field: one had an MA in economics, the other had a BA in Business Administration.

I imagine that a mortgage bank or brokerage would want to be able to feel confident, that its hires were able to accurately crunch numbers.

I work in the mortgage industry. I agree with homesinseattle; you'll probably find it easiest to navigate through the system, underwriting or processing assistant, then underwriter, processor or similar, or find a mortgage banker who might bring you on and show you the ropes.

Tons of remote finance jobs these days. I work remotely for a company on the east coast.

Remote finance jobs such as what? What sort of pay and qualifications? Remote work is even better; I'm a computer expert, have fast typing, and work great from a computer. What are some companies that hire for remote work without a degree, if there are any?

Thanks to all.

I gave the most common examples in my post. Underwriting assistant, loan processing assistant, junior appraisal reviewer, appraisal underwriter, or you could even go towards the Title end of things - look for entry level jobs with title companies.

I find LinkedIn to be the best to search for these things (they have a remote jobs filter), or perhaps Indeed as well.
