Thanks, Olynative, that was a great post, and expresses what I've been feeling but didn't know how to articulate. There's a fair amount of subtle classism around here, people just don't want to see people poorer than they are, and Burien/Boulevard Parlk/White Center have poor peopleas well as middle class and wealthier folks....And Burien is the next Ballard. I go there to hike in Seacrest Park, and dine in some of there good restaurants, and shop at Trader Joe's.

No dear, classism is irrelevent to crime statistics. What people feel about those who make less than they do has absolutely nothing to do with the choices the people in those areas make, more than in surrounding areas, to commit crime and be poor neighbors.

Olynative checked the crime statistics. He or she reported that Boulevard Park/Burien/White Center's crime stats were similar to other Washington cities and didn't seem exceptionally high.

jamesandveybe, I'm confused by your post. It would seem to me that the way people in surrounding areas feel about poorer people would have a lot of bearing on the way people act. If the people in those surrounding areas wouldn't alienate them as much and do more to include them in their community then some of that classism might dissapear.
