Probably some time around June-July 2010 I will be planning to move to Seattle. My girlfriend is moving up there as well to go to school at Uni. of Wash. I am looking at getting a job in public accounting and trying to find a place to live that I could commute either by bike or by bus to the city, but also be somewhat close to the university district. I don't want to drive/bus for an hour to see my girlfriend, rather 10-20 minutes max. When I first move there I will be renting, probably for a year or two, and then looking at buying something. So recommendations on places to live ie rent or purchase would be great. The areas to rent don't have be the same as good areas to live. I'd like to have more upscale than ghetto but I dont need to be on a block where everyone has BMWs. I guess when I say upscale I mean newer and more modern. Of course safety, and things to do are important as well. So, thanks for your help!

If you work Big 4 you could probably afford to live in Ballard, Fremont or South Lake Union. All have good proximity to downtown and UW.
