Hi All,

I am in a bit of an ackward situation here and need some guidance. Basically, it seems as though I should be locking in a job at Microsoft (in Redmond). Since we are still selling our house, I will likely have to go out to Seattle first and then my family will follow a few months later.

Since we still have our mortgage, we really cant afford that plus the rent needed for a studio somewhat close to Redmond.

That being said, is anyone aware of any option? I really don't need much, just a place to sleep and take a shower. Between work and other responsibilities, I will have hardly any free-time.

I can spare a few hundred bucks a month for something, but not the 700 or so I keep seeing for a studio that will do month to month (or 3 month max).

Are there any areas somewhat close to Microsoft where I could find some cheap housing or any cheap extended stay hotel type of places? I'm willing to look further out of Redmond, but with the horror stories I hear about traffic, I have to keep that as a consideration.

Thoughts?

Many thanks!

Look for "rooms & shares" on Craigslist. Also check into an extended stay hotel. Usually you pay by the week, but if you're sure that you would stay longer than that, it can be reduced.

Thanks for the advice! Is anyone aware of an affordable extended stay place in the general Redmond area?

(As for Extended Stay places, those can be googled.)

Also, I should add they might throw in a MS employee discount.

MS has a mini society/world thing going on, you should also ask about using their resources.

Several years ago my nephew was hired by Microsoft right out of college. He had no savings and was engaged. He actually LIVED in his office at MS! He was very discrete, you couldn't tell what he was doing because he kept the office very professional. Many programmers had couches and slept on them occasionally when projects ran 24/7, food was essentially free.

I doubt that it is easily done today but homeless MS employees is nothing new.
