It appears to be coming down to fulfillment of prophecy and added ( for lack of a better explanation a series of specially earmarked judgments) These jugments are directed at nations ( gentiles) and Israel by a extremely ticked off God ( not vindictive ) just the outcome of disobedience which is never historically pretty and represents the redundant cycle of mankind's stupidity and falling from God. This is not only a Shemitah year its a 7x7 or 7th 7 (jubilee) which connotes either super blessings or super judgments.. This has zero to do with religion . Toss out all religion this is a cycle of 7 a God ordained cycle a God fed up with man spitting on His covenants. The outcome will be a rain of natural and supernatural events never seen by mankind in history. Stop implying the end of earth for fear of making a fool out of yourself. Jesus comes to Jerusalem for 1000 years after all the BS ! Corresponding with Shemitah are the harbingers and blood moon judgments that you must get straight to get prepared or be left in a secular cesspool of ignorance in which survival will be highly compromised.
[However, I will admit that the Wal-Mart closings really have me bothered because closing five stores at the same time for the same reason (plumbing problems) with the same time frames for completion with the announcements of the closings also being made at the same time just did not -- and STILL does not -- make sense to me! And especially since the closings coincide with Jade Helm.]
Do a google search for Walmart labor protest such as the Black Friday walkouts and other similar major protest by employees at walmart stores. Next grab a list of all the Walmart that have closed for renovations under these suspicious plumbing issues. Notice anything? See any stores that closed for renovations that were not part of major employee labor protest? Also have you noticed that there are also walmart stores being closed for renovation well outside the planned us military readiness exercises in the SW? Seems if there was plans to invade Texas using walmart stores, there would be no reason to close labor unrest stores in the northeast for plumbing renovations.
At some point we have to start considering if these conspiracy theorist are suffering a new form of mental illness.

Again with the "Shemitah"!!! Here's a reality check for you, bubbie: neither 1929 (the beginning of the Great Depression marked by a series of stock market crashes) nor 1933 (Hitler taking over Germany, probably the most significant single negative incident in Jewish history in the last 1000 years since it was the very beginning of the Holocaust) is a factor of 7 back from 2001 or 2008 or 2015. You and your rabbi-hero need to gain some f##### sense of reality and perspective on what is actually important!!!

Fall 2015 Market plung largest since depression -22% ( sample 7% in 2008 $777 billion hit) resulting in 2016 loss of many entitlements resulting in anarchy in US necessitating militias ( most ex police , military and screened public) to collaborate and reinforce local police, and national guard to control violence, looting and lawlessness. We recover to a degree by 2018, but US becomes a near third world country, broke ,in debt and a destroyed infrastructure.

Without Hitler to oppose them the communists enslaved eastern Europe. The US should never been in that war.
Franklin Roosevelt's first act as president was to recognize the Soviet Union. No previous president, Republican or Democrat, was ever willing willing to do this. He then prohibited the possession of gold and worked with his pal Morgenthau to raise the price of gold, a boon for the Soviet Union. He did everthing possible to force Germany into a war. Japan was the weak link. Cutting off oil and scrap metal would have devastated their economy leaving them little choice. They were desperately trying to find peace.
We all know what happened.
Herbert Hoover spent years researching an extraordinary book detailing this unhappy series of events as well as the aftermath. Every concerned citizen should read it.
Something to remember. Roosevelt's original draft of the Natonal Firearms Act included handguns. He wished to make handguns as difficult to obtain as machineguns.
We had a power outage in NYC several years ago. Caused by solar flare damage to the Canadian power source. In less than a day people were passing $5 bills through the steel bars protecting businesses - to buy a bottle of water. We will get hit with larger solar flare damage someday. It is a matter of time.
There are so many ways that a collapse could go down that it is impossible to prepare for everything. I would suspect an economic/political collapse as the greatest threat. Followed by solar flare or pre-emptive EMP militaristic strike.
Should we prepare? Good question. Every generation has thought it was the final generation. Yet we do live in very interesting times. Haven't we always?
All one really needs for awhile is food, water, self-protection and the ability to stay warm and dry.
People like to ask if and how they should prepare. I think materials to last a month are prudent. Cereal lasts a long time by the way.
Piggybacking on the above post - what we will need where I live is a way to stay COOL and dry - heat is our problem here - humidity - you can burn wood or coal or compacted plant matter for heat and fuel - but for the crushing humidity and heat, it would be very bad, I think, to be in mid-south Texas when the SHTF.
