Half Gallon of Ice Cream 64 oz. Correct... next time your shopping and you see Ice Cream on sale check out what your getting. That 1/2 gallon container now is 56 oz. or do to the printing & graphics on the carton 48 oz. They are doing it with all products... coffee ~ crackers ~ cookies ~ candy bars. Paying more and getting less.... what a rip off. We as consumers should be out raged....... write the company for the product and give them your 2 cents... they all have web address.

I am with you Tinman. I am so sick of all the manipulation. If you want/need to raise prices then just do it but don't be sneaky about it and make smaller sizes. I started a thread about this some time ago. Here are some of the things I noticed and others noticed are getting smaller.

"My observations:

I Can't Believe It's Not Butter- used to be 16oz. now it's 15oz.

Ice Cream- used to be 1/2 gallon now it's 1.75 quarts and now it's 1.5 quarts

Toilet paper rolls are smaller

Today I opened a new container of Folgers Coffee(regular price is over $9.00) and guess what? The container went from 34.5oz to 27.8oz. What a rip.

Cereal(some) has gone done to 11oz boxes. What are you supposed to do with that?

So, what observations have you all seen? Sorry but it really ticks me off. The gov't tries to paint a rosy picture because inflation is not up- they lie. You can't repackage things in smaller containers for the same price and not call that inflation.

any brand can of tuna was 6.5 oz now 6 oz. some are now 5oz.
Dial bar soap was 4.5 oz now 4 oz
can of paint was a gallon 128 oz now anywhere between 119-126 oz and the paint manufacturer, home depot, lowes, etc. get away with advertising it and calling it a 'gallon'. [unit pricing does not apply to paint]
with all above examples even with reduction in size, prices increased."

Coffee used to come in 16 oz cans now they are 13 oz cans

Spaghetti sauce has decreased by 2-3 oz

Pretzels used to come in 16 oz bags...now they are 13 oz bags

Another thing I've noticed is cream cheese now comes in 3 oz bars at a cost of 79 cents. They used to come in 8 oz bars at a cost of $1.19

Those are just a few examples I can think of off the top of my head.

Eventually will be down to one ply clear toilet paper.... the size of a saltine cracker..

LOL, i haven't bought ice cream much, but do notice how small the containers are now. I remember 1/2 gal was HUGE!!!

Still is huge... but designed to hold 56 oz or 48 oz. This generation will never know what a gallon ~ quart ~ pint is. I can see the math problems in the future for are grand children...

We like Edys. Next time you go to the store look at the top and bottom of the carton. Notice how deep-set each is? Fools the eye.

Retail has been a slow fade for several years. One day we will wake up to mini-sized products only.
