Anyone purchased an adjustable bed? What exactly is "zero gravity"? And how about all these mattresses, gel, memory foam...I am considering buying one from Costco, even though it is a lot of money to buy something I have not yet tried...
I love my Tempur Pedic. It is comfortable, it adjusts and vibrates. My son and brother also ended up buying Tempur Pedics. I almost hate going on vacation because I miss my bed! lol
I wanted to add about the Tempur pedics being hot. None of us feel that our Tempur Pedics run hot. Maybe this is due to the part of the country we live in? My husband runs hot and I don't but neither of us have noticed a problem with it. I think that this is interesting.
I have slept on a Sleep Number, Tempurpedic, and various other manufacturer's memory foam. In the end, I settled with less well known memory foam manufacturer that sells directly to the consumer. Didn't feel like I needed to invest and pay for the "HYPE". Tempurpedic hype and marketing reminds me a lot about Bose. They aren't worth what they sell their items for but they advertise it so often that people just end up believing in the hype.
I thought long and hard about buying a foam mattress from my local Costco because Costco is local and easier to return but went against it because the memory foams they were selling did not meet the quality I wanted in a memory foam mattress.
We did buy one from Costco online. I read that trying a mattress in a bed store is not indicative of liking the same mattress at home. As a matter of fact, 79 percent of people who purchased a mattress in a store were satisfied, 83 percent were happy with mattress purchased online.
I'll never buy a regular mattress again. There is too much mark-up, too much hype, and not enough longevity. I made a platform for use instead of a box spring. The foam I had bought about ten years ago was finally developing sags, so I just bought fresh:
Bought the king size 1.8PCF for $182, went to Walmart and bought a 1.5" memory foam topper for about $90. We cover those with a cloth mattress pad $60 +-. The cloth mattress pad limits the heat build-up somewhat.
$332 total for a king size mattress that is easy to move and turn, and will last another ten years. I cut the old foam that I was replacing into a size that fits in our van.
I bought a latex mattress (the old Serta Spring Free line) from an online mattress site. I selected one on the firmer side then put on a softer topper. The mattress is going to last a really time, after 8 years it still looks a feels brand new. I've replace the topper as needed and I HATED the "memory foam" one we had at first. Now I just use latex for everything. Mattress, topper, pillows...can't beat it.
Got a regular Sealy bed from an online store for the guest room and that worked out real good too.
