I have Seal a Meal by FoodSaver. Walmart special for about $40.
You can get same thing on Amazon.
I love mine and use it all the time.
Especially when garden crops get harvested.
Thinking about getting a Vacuum Pack Machine. Anyone have one, how do you like it, and will something like this work (and last)?
My FoodSaver is 5+ years old and going strong. We mainly use it to store things from Costco vs leftovers. I think the secret is having a place where you can leave it out on the counter, vs having to pull it out every time you want to seal something.

Yes!

No, but I would prefer spending a few extra $ on a machine that is going to last longer. That said, I saw a commercial machine for $1500 - I am not going there.
I’ve had two cheaper versions of a food sealer. I loved both of them until they abruptly either stopped sealing or sucking. I tried all the trouble shooting ideas before giving up. My second one only lasted a few months with light use.
Reading reviews of any food sealer, including the high-end ones, this seems to be a common occurrence. I personally don’t want to spend any more money on this idea, although it would be nice to have a working one.

We use ours for meats purchased on sale in larger quantities. We also use it for sous vide cooking.
Don is correct. Ours is in a closet and not on the counter; we'd use it A LOT more if it were more convenient.

We bought the Foodsaver at Costco, I think it was $129 back about 3 years ago, and probably much more now. We would be lost without that, since we buy in large quantities at Costco and have an upright freezer. We will portion, seal and freeze things like bulk ground beef, bacon, and filet of sole which are much less expensive in larger quantities. We also use it for leftovers, such as pulled pork, pot roast, and BBQ brisket. We order the rolls of bag material from Amazon.
