Pork butts are on sale for .99lb this week
I will buy for the smoker and also make sausage in the casings
Bought 25lbs on boneless chicken thighs for
1.79lb. Will marinate and grill
Just had flat iron steak last night .. one of my favs
Will have chuck eye steaks in a couple days
Bought chuck roast on sale for 3.99lb and sliced into “ boneless ribs”
I put in pressure cooker to tenderize them… then finished with sauce on the grill
Coulotte steak ( cap from top butt sirloin .. also called picanha) is also very tasty and reasonable
Bottom sirloin flap meat is excellent for marinated beef tips and can also cook like a steak ( called bavette )
Bought ten lbs of frozen North Atlantic haddock for 3.99lb ..
I love turkey burgers! Haven't eaten beef in 20+ years, so I basically use turkey or chicken as a substitute for everything... and when done right, I think it's even tastier than beef. YMMV.
I stopped into my Giant grocery store yesterday around 10:30 am and scored a whole Perdue RESERVE roaster (all organic, no chemicals or antibiotics) marked "Managers Special" for $4.44! Roasted it with cornbread stuffing and will have a multitude of meals. And on an impulse buy because it was also a "Managers Special (1/2 price day of expiration) I bought two chuck steaks -- something I have never bought before. I wasn't sure how to cook them but I just seared them and roasted them in the oven with some mushroom sauce and sliced carrots. It smelled just like pot roast -- I had so much food that I just divided it in two and put it over some white rice and froze it in two portions -- will get at least 4 meals. Like others here -- I buy whatever is on sale and it challenges me to cook something different.

May not seem like much of a difference if we are talking one 7oz piece, but that's 7oz x 4 = 28oz per week, or 1.75lbs per week, which means I consume about 91lbs per year. At a price diff of $10/lb, that's a savings of $900 per year. Wow.
$3.99 a lb for Haddock is a good price. For dead critters, I only eat wild caught fish and occasionally some free range, no antibiotic chicken. Walmart has 2 lbs of wild caught Whiting for $7.99, and 2 lbs of wild caught pink salmon for $12.00. My freezer is stuffed w/ both.
I douse them w/a little Louisiana Hot Sauce and apply fresh ground black pepper. Then put 'em in a pan w/ just a touch of olive oil and broil the fillets for 7 minutes. Serve them up w/ horseradish sauce and lemon, WOW! Only the good fats, and half the calories of chicken. You can't get any cheaper or healthier than that. 2 fillets (4 oz ea) w/ horseradish sauce and a huge salad are way less than 300 calories.

Now to see where else I can save...
You could get that for 15/lb at walmart and save another 1350/year, not to mention all your other groceries.
