I'm looking to buy a home weather station. There are a number of manufacturers (LaCrosse, Oregon Scientific, Honeywell, Davis Instruments, etc.) out there who offer various models. I would like a reliable and accurate station that reports and records temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed and direction, barometric pressure and perhaps time.
I've read some less than stellar reviews of some of the less expensive stations. At the same time, I don't want to spend a small fortune on a more sophisticated/professional system. I really like the Davis Instruments Vantage View 6250-but it's pretty costly (350-$400). I prefer to stay under $200 to keep peace in the house.
Anyone have any advice about what to buy and, perhaps more importantly, what to avoid??
