Yeah, I was about to say: Shreveport doesn't really have "tourists" as much as it has "gamblers".

^75 minutes North of Dallas. Once you're done gambling, go to DFW, etc. SO MUCH more appealing than going to Shreveport to gamble, and then...go to Shreveport? ROFLMAO!
It's losing that now that casinos are opening up around North of Dallas. Who the hell is going to go to Shreveport from the East coast with Atlanta between them, and from the West with Dallas? From the south with New Orleans? From the North with the option to filter down to Atlanta, Dallas, or pass through to NO?

I spoke with my trainer who used to work at one of the boats, and she said everyone was leaving them because they have gone down hill and all of the high rollers have left or at least really cut down on visiting. Did some research and the above seems to contribute GREATLY.

Shreveport is dead-zone for attraction of anything/anyone except someone who works in healthcare and wants to die with Schumpert, join The Monopoly with Willis Knighton, or do residency/get experience at University.

Otherwise? Bueller? Bueller?

I used to work on the boats, they're disgusting. People defecate on themselves to keep their seats. They stay open 24/7 and are just a giant boat full of cigarette smoke and human waste. Great tourist attraction though.... for people who have an addiction. Or if you wanna sit at penny slots and get drunk for cheap.

That place has too many boats as well. Another reason for the slump is the opening of Margaritaville, taking away from all the others in the area. Shreveport is looking at a very serious crash, it's like that city crashed in the 80s from the oil bust, so they made another bubble in the 90s to counter it. The gambling industry didn't really help them with recovery very much (since so many of the jobs created were low paying), and now they're heading for just as bad of a crash.

I did talk to some folks in Dallas recently about WinStar N. of Dallas. While the property is nice, they said the comps were harder to get and you had to pay for everything.
