It's parity. This year the tournament is wide open. The Swiss beating Spain yesterday showed just that. N. Korea giving Brazil a scare for a half is another example. There really is no clear cut favorite this year and the mid-level teams are better than in the past.

When you lose your first game, you only have an 8% chance of advancing. So, teams were playing very conservative in their first game. Starting today, we will see scoring pickup.

11 goals in the first 3 games of the second round. So, the scoring is definitely picking up.

In the first round of games, not losing is more important than winning. In the second and third rounds, teams need wins.
