AndreaDrew,

I'm afraid you haven't included enough information for anyone to really help you. What kind of job will you be seeking? What is your educational background? Is your son school age? You say "affordable" but for one person that might be $500 a month while another thinks $3,000 a month is affordable.

There are numerous threads on here already that you should read through to get information. Then you'll have a better idea of the area and be able to ask specific questions.

Also, be sure to visit before you move. Vacations and actually living somewhere can be very different experiences, especially with children.

Best of luck.

Why are you interested in moving to SC if you barely know anything about it?

I moved to SC and chose Greenville. It has the best of it all, in my opinion. The mountains are nearby. The beach is within an easy day's drive. The downtown has all the coolness of a larger city, but without the hassle. I love it.

Cost of living is also relatively cheap here. Much cheaper than near the coast, and also cheaper than where I came from (Indianapolis). I have a very nice 2br apartment in Greer, actually (which is very near Greenville) for about the same as my 1br in Indianapolis area.
