Want a day at the beach from Columbia? Let us say 5 hours commute (both ways) and 5 hours at the beach. Leave at 9am and get home at 7pm. A day trip yes, but it will be an all day trip.

I left fort jackson in Columbia and got to Sullivan's island in an hour and 45mins. So its possible. Add in traffic then you looking over 2 hours but if it's no traffic then it's easily under 2
