Considering moving to either Bluffton or Beaufort and would appreciate information on quality of healthcare in both locations. Any feedback on public libraries in both cities would also be welcomed. We are retired and our housing budget is $500k.

I have retired several friends in Sun City that moved there from MA and NJ. They say that overall, the health care is as good as anywhere they lived.

It can take a few months to get an initial appointment with a primary care doctor. For some specialists you may have to go to Charleston or Savannah although that is starting to improve as some of those specialists will come to Bluffton once or twice a week. Both my husband and I have both been patients at Hilton Head Hospital and Coastal Carolina Hospital and they provide good care.

The library in Bluffton has a good selection of books but probably not by big city standards. However, you can place holds on the library's website on any book in the statewide system and when it is available, it will be sent to the Bluffton library for you. You'll be notified by email to pick it up.
