Hello,
I'm trying to find who we can talk to about School Zones and trying to get one done. We have 3 schools that don't have a school zone posted , it's a very dangerous road and we recently had an accident when a parent drove out of that road with a log truck. Two children died on inpact and two are still in the hospital, we don't feel save anymore to drive our children to school without the traffic speeding. There should be a school zone at those 3 school so driver know that there is a school in the area and to slow down. I would appreciate any Help we could get. Thank you very much.

Be a squeeky wheel. Go to the area school board meetings and ask, go to township meeting and ask. Get a petition and be loud about it. I have found that almost anything can be done if you put your mind to it. Another good resourse is the media. Write an op-ed piece. Call the local news stations. It may seem hard to belive but they are just dying for human interest stories. I was the chair for a group of moms raising funds for a handicap accessible playground and EVERY time we went to the media they came through. It took about 3 years but we got grants, private and corporate donations and got outr playground built. Just 1 story in the Philadelphia inquirer led to a $100,000 donation.

Helping kids is something everyone want to do- sometimes it just takes some one like yourself to step up to the plate and spearhead it.

Good luck !!

That accident was so sad and terrible, it hit a little too close to home. I think a lot of the signs are put up by the Public Works Deptartment. I know we had a sign put up in our neighborhood about children playing and we contacted the Public Works Dept. Give that a try and hopefully that will work.
