Middle aged nonsmoking old gal and her elderly Sheltie dog (Skippy) looking to live out their last days in the beautiful Northern Hills. I can't find much online...does anyone know of a quiet, charming, apartment for rent? Any help will be much appreciated!!!

Black Hills Pioneer: Housing

From the Deadwood Newspaper. In fact the first ad says pet units available.
Try using your computer to search newspapers and then make the calls, that's your best bet!

Eric1 is the real estate guru for the area. He should drop by and answer your question.

Caledonia Condominiums :: Lead, SD ::
Not sure how they are on pets anymore (several yrs. ago I knew a few peeps in there with them).
I will send you a DM with a local property managers contact. Also, I think driving around and looking for signs helps too, those seem to be some of best deals going - good luck.

I am looking for a pet friendly place to live too! I am currently in Rapid City but I think I would like to live in Lead. My son is in elementary school and I'm interested in a two bedroom with a yard. I have two dogs, excellent rental references from previous landlords, and want to be in by or before September 1. Is there anything still available? Did you find a place?

Hows the search going?

I'd like to know more about long-term rentals in Deadwood/Lead.
It seems there are very few 6 or 12 month rentals (of any kind, including houses). Why is that?

Default still searching

Rally is the worst time of year to search. Next week there will be more, I'm told, but I'm still having trouble with the pet-friendly status and since I'm on Section 8, it's next to impossible to find a place that falls within the 'reasonable rent for the area' that they determine from a chart. Oh the hoops I must jump through! But Sec 8 allows me to work only one job and be home with my son at night, it's totally worth it (if I can find a place, that is). Just need to figure out what to do with my beloved doggies...
