I'm working with a physician who will be going to Pine Ridge, SD to work at the Indian Health Hospital. If I can't get housing on the hospital campus does anyone know of local ads of maybe a one bedroom furnished apartment or add for a temporary sublet? I'm wanting to send him out next week and the closest hotels aren't exactly close. He really needs a unit with a kitchen/kitchenette and he's going to be out there through mid June with possible extension. I am out of Georgia so I have no clue what would be available. My company prepays.
The Lakota Country times Contact Us | www.lakotacountrytimes.com | Lakota Country Times is the official newspaper for the Rosebud and Pine Ridge Reservations. I didn't see any rental ads in their paper, but you may want to check it over yourself. Or call them and ask if they have any suggestions. Their phone number is 605 685 1868. Otherwise, Chadron, Ne or Hot Springs, SD would be the closest towns of any size. Either one would be an approximate 75 mile commute each way. There isn't much between Chadron or Hot Springs and the village of Pine Ridge.
Good luck. Good luck finding any housing. My first thought was residing in Hot Springs. Perhaps there is decent housing in Martin (45 miles to the east).
Sadly, there isn't much on the rez. Gordon, Martin or, White Clay (also NE - HUGE longshot). Not sure if there would be anything in Oglala. It's not that they aren't telling you what's there. There just isn't anything there. Have you tried the Prairie Wind Hotel at the casino?
Prairie Winds is like, 60 miles from Pine Ridge the town so it's pretty far. I appreciate the help so far, they do have housing on the hospital campus but it's usually shared- like a room mate situation. When I sent ER doctors up there they never cared but this guy is Primary Care and he's up there steadily for a month and doesn't want it. He's just going to have to stay in Gordon or suck it up I guess.
Well, I think Gordon is about 34 miles. So anything closer would be better.
