A Sturgis woman was arrested with a blood alcohol content roughly nine times the legal limit, according to a story in the Rapid City Journal.
The woman, whose blood alcohol level of .708 is believed to be the highest recorded in South Dakota, is also likely to face charges for stealing vehicles.
Wow Leroy, what an article. I had not heard of that story (here in Tucson) until I read your post. My gosh, very fortunate that she was found without causing an accident or any further harm to herself or anyone else for that matter.
Rjl and Uncleharley - yes, I agree...had I not read that she lived, I would have said completely incompatible with life. Yet, I've read the stats as well regarding greater than .40 being fatal to approximately 50% of the population.
I wonder if the Rapid City police keep tabs of which officer picks up the drunkest person and still driving. I've heard that the SF police keep a record for which officer is in 1st place.
The policeman that nailed this person will surely make the "hall of fame".
how horrible! Thank GOD no one was hurt. I just saw something on this on CNN. Amazing how she could even be upright in that condition? It's not clear if she was driving at all at that time (maybe she just fell into the car trying to steal it and passed out)- but later she was found in ANOTHER stolen car? Maybe she should just be held without bond. Scary to think what could happen if she gets behind the wheel drunk again.
I was nearly killed in a car accident 9 years ago. I don't think I could emotionally survive another one.
