I simply don't understand health insurance. Currently, the kids & I have private insurance. DS1 is special needs and now that I'm no longer working, I need to find insurance that will help cover any type of therapy. I noticed that it's either under "chiropractic coverage" or "mental health coverage" at ehealthinsurance dot com. However, they all say "after deductible." Right now DS1 is able to get OT ($50/pop) due to poor muscle tone and I haven't met my deductible. I don't like our current one b/c I think I can get better coverage for less.

Who do you have and are you happy with them?

What should I look for or avoid?

What Spazkat9696 says, apply for Medicaid and/or similar State plan. Hopefully you will qualify NOW (as fast as "now" is for bureaucratic red tape). Then when you do get private insurance again, keep BOTH on your children. They will sometimes overlap so that your balance is 0$ for medical bills and/or pharmaceuticals .
