Dear Friends,

It was suggested to me to check out the St. Louis area since i have more than one special needs teen. I really need some home based help at this point and where we are in PA, there is nothing of the kind. They have an adult waiver that starts at 21 but then a waiting list too.

I am really in desperate need of some home based help and although I know that Upstate NY has this kind of service, I can't quite take the winters there.

Missouri is ranked as #8 on the Cerebral Palsy's list of state report cards for the level of care offered and the the short waiting list.

If anyone has any insight or other suggestions? I also read many good things about Arizona and I am timid from it since I have never visited and I am afraid of scorpions too. Let me know if that is an unfounded fear.

Thanks for trying to help!

I see that this is kind of old...but I just saw this. And in case the OP is still around...

OP, St. Louis has a lot of great hospitals and doctors, who may be able to direct you in what services would be available.

We have:

St. Louis Children's Hospital
Shriner's Hospital
Barnes Hospital
-And other hospitals, but these I think, would address your needs the best

There's also https://www.stlouis-mo.gov/government/departments/human-services/disabled-office/resources.cfm

Andhttp://www.ucpheartland.org/

And http://cpfamilynetwork.org/resources/united-cerebral-palsy-of-greater-st-louis/

I hope these can point you in the right direction. God bless.
