Thanks in advance. Im meeting with a realtor in Idaho and im wondering if the Spokane valley is similar? If so, then i will schedule a meeting with a Spokane valley realtor.

It is similar in some ways, except for the absence of a large lake nearby.

Thanks. So they are essentially the same minus a large body of water?

Think about it. One community is next to a lake, has a long history as a regional destination resort, and has experienced a recnt growth spurt fueled by money from Californians. The other is a former agricultural area overcome with unplanned suburban sprawl. If you are not wealthy, or lucky enough to find a job paying decent wages in CDA, you will probably be commuting to Spokane from either the valley or the lake city. Either way, plan on spending a good chunk of your life on the freeway -- which in this part of the world means hair-raising ice driving on some winter mornings.

If I had to choose, I would settle for lower wages (and lower taxes) and live in Coeur d'Alene. Or move to Spokane proper. The valley is a jumble of ticky-tacky and strip malls for anyone not wealthy enough to buy an old stone pioneer house or a McMansion.

Yeledaf speaks truth, and I will agree, I've been there and done that. And this.

Thank you for your insight. I'm fortunate enough to be able to work from home. I only need a reliable internet connection. Natural beauty is a primary consideration for my move. It is one reason I am moving from downtown Seattle.

Idaho is going to be conservative. Thus, probably no medical marijuana, which sucks, but I can live without it. I friggin hate traffic, a life stealer. I will keep a virtual office in Spokane and occasionally, maybe once a month commute during non traffic rush hours

here is a question: Are there any comparable rural cities in north eastern Wa or north Idaho worth a look for scenic beauty?

Once again thanks in advance for any input

If you receive medical relief from marijuana, why are you concerned about Idaho law? Discretion on your part, is all that is needed. Although, if you "can live without it", perhaps your perspective is more from a recreational desire, and if correct, refer to my last sentence.

If you're looking for scenic and resort-y, kind of similar to Coeur d'Alene without the traffic/population, you might consider Sandpoint, ID.
