I've done a little research but there is not too much recently updated blogs or articles regarding living in Spokane so I have some questions .

Is Spokane still affordable to live ? Or is getting unlivable like Reno and Boise from overflow from Denver .
Can I found a nice not run down 1 bedroom for around a thousand or less ?

It's hard to tell off averages on google , but what exactly is the weather like ? I'm from
Upstate ny so harsh winters are not a big deal to me . One ofy deal breakers is summer heat mainly
The humidity . Is the summer a dry heat in Spokane ? Nice and compofortable?

Is Spokane surrounded by mountains and forest ? I love the views and like to hike

Also in a city I like a nice balance of nightlife ( pubs , beer , events ) but not the big city feels where I'm sitting half my day in traffic

Job would be at Spokane airport , where are the areas I should look at apartments in ?

Is there public transit? Or uber/lyft ?

IMO Spokane is affordable.

Spokane might as well be Mars compared to the rest of the country, so it is not a "destination"......yet.

Yes, apartments sub $1000.

Summer heat is not humid.

Surrounded by mountains and one could even argue "in" a forest. At least that's the way it looks.

Traffic is a joke compared to most major cities, but it has its moments.

Anywhere in Spokane proper is fine. Getting out towards the valley would be too far of a commute for you.

There are buses and taxis. I'm sure Uber and/or Lyft have a presence, but I have not used either of them there.

Thank you for the input !

So you mentioned the valley , is the metro/downtown in the mountains/ forest?

I like that it has a mix of dry heat , forest and still
About 4 hours from the coast , correct ?

Is the downtown safe and good area to live ?

It is fairly hilly, with higher mountains off in the distance to the north and east. There are trees most everywhere, however, downtown and much of the north side of the city are comparatively barren.

4 hours from Seattle. 6 hours from Portland. The coast would be at least 2 hours more from those cities. Keep in mind, the coast in WA and OR is freezing (air and water, even in summer), not good for swimming/etc, more just for looks/tidepools/cute little towns/etc.

Downtown has nice enough areas/units nearby, but it is run down in areas.

Thank you for
All the info . I would love to live on the cool breezy coast that's my type of climate but unfortunately I'm not multi millionaire

There is Lyft/Uber. I've used Lyft and they are pretty affordable - a lot of students drive them for extra income.

Medical Lake is near the airport. It's a small bedroom town but it's safe and has beautiful lakes. It's only 20 mins away from the airport or Spokane.

Spokane is still quite affordable, you can get a nice apartment for $1k.

Summers, they can get pretty hot, but not that humid and it cools-down nicely when the sun goes down. The hot months, yeah, I would say about 2.5 to 3.

I am not a big outdoors-type, camping and hiking, meh. Not into clubbing either. But if I was to go out and do something like a pub-crawl, get a little lit and meander around......Spokane would not be my first choice.......honestly a lot of it comes across as trashy and boring.

The roads, traffic and drivers..........OH MY, I rate those three a big thumbs-down.

Speed limits in WA are high, but I still think 4 hours isn't going to get you there. However, there are a lot of lakes relatively close to Spokane for your boating and fishing enjoyment.

I think few would consider 60MPH ( I90 Spokane to Seattle) a "high" speed limit. I agree with 4 hours to the coast as overly optimistic, 4.5 to 5 hours is much more realistic.
