Tennis is the only sports I watch, but I can't stand the few howler monkeys, mostly women, that have this screech or howl every single time the hit the ball. I typically mute the TV or turn it way down, not sure I could sit through 2 or 3 sets in the arena without going crazy.
According to some of the biggest culprits of this "howling" (Sharapova, Williams sisters, etc) it's a release of energy at the time of hitting the ball that they cannot control.
Anarenka( spelling?) was in full howling form last night. She literally does it on EVERY single shot. I think I'd go crazy if I was watching it live....at least watching it on TV I can turn down the volume.

LOL... my wife asked me if that was really her screaming like that or was it some kind of an echo!
LOL... I just tell myself it's the racket string cutting through the air and impacting the ball. If I thought it was the girls making the noise I'd probly want to marry one of them.

Serena and Venus are very quiet compared to some others...I wouldn't even mention them as culprits.
