Thanks for the link! My speeds were really slow, except for the multi-thread download test. Very interesting. That was fun. I pay for 16 Mbps max, got 2.3 from this test. No wonder I'm so sick of that spinning color ball. Am using a cable modem from Baja. Baja's test yields 14.29, but apparently that's only within St. George, whereas testmy.net went to Dallas and San Jose.

Today's speed with testmy.net has 8.3 down and 4 up. The test with speedof.me gets 12 down and 6.06 up.

What really matters is how fast you can download during peak hours (say between 5 PM and 10 PM weekdays). We use AWI . We live on the west side of St George and our peak speed is between 3 & 5.5 MBPS. We're paying for "up to" 20 MBPS. Right now it appears that there isn't enough internet providers in St George because we've tried two other besides AWI and they all had the same issues (Baja and Century Link).

Shame on the St George internet companies for misleading us. It's not right.

I am not sure if you can call it misleading.
After all, they always state : * Up to xx whatever*

*Up to* could be almost nothing !

We have subscribed to 3 providers over the years and never has any of them guaranteed a minimum speed.

You could look into Infowest. We have lived here since 2006 and been very pleased with the service. We run 4 computers, smart tv, Xbox, and watch Netflix. Works great for us.
