It's an observation. It's interesting the city population as a whole is getting smaller but whiter.

But where do the non-whites usually move from St. Louis?
East St. Louis?

St. Louis County. During the childhood of many on this forum, as recently as 50 years ago, there were hardly any black folk in StL County, except for a few enclaves (Berkeley, North Webster, etc). And today, North County is mostly black.

I hope that answers your presumably rhetorical question. You knew the answer.

East St. Louis has been emptying out for decades too.

To be precise: it’s not “non-whites” who are exiting the city of St Louis. Each census has shown an increase in the Latino, Asian and “other” populations of the city. The group that is moving out in greater numbers are African Americans. Meanwhile, the non-Latino white population in the city has remained fairly steady. The end result is a notable percentage decrease in African Americans, and a small percentage increase in other groups.

Most urban cities are seeing a decrease in Black American population. St. Louis is no different.

What is different is stagnant population growth in the msa and lack of immigrant population growth. St. Louis needs to rebrand its self. It is a great place to live but no one knows it.

First of all let me say, I miss StL but things change and there's no going back. As with the North County area, when someone moves in, another moves on...............and I'm going with -- on the other side of St. Charles. Would be interesting to predict the people movement from there.

It's already occurring. Lincoln County and Warren County.
