I am thinking of relocating to st. louis. I play the drums and want to be involved in the jazz scene and also want to find a day job in a warehouse or large company. I don't have much money and have never been to the city. I want to live near the city and be safe. I have no idea where to look. any suggestions would be very welcome

I'd go with the Dogtown neighborhood of St. Louis. Safe, convenient to everything and you can get a studio or 1 bedroom for under $500/month.

Like this place: 6244 Oakland / Large Chicago Style Studios! (http://stlouis.craigslist.org/apa/828553918.html - broken link)

Also try Maplewood, a suburb directly adjacent to the city which is safe and cheap or Benton Park, a city neighborhood that I would call generally safe.

^ Not everyone wants to take care of a yard, but just an FYI, I have a 2 br house with a nice sized yard for only $650/mo! crappy landlords though
