I tried coconut water for the first time and was hooked! The problem now is where to find young coconuts here in the 314, provided they can be found at all. There are a lot of fantastic Asian and otherwise ethnic markets around here that I assume might carry them, but I was wondering if anyone knew for sure and/or had any specific recommendations. (And yes, they are available online, but my frugal Midwestern soul shudders at the idea, and I'd rather support a local business if I can.)

Thanks in advance!
Sara

Have you tried Jay's International Foods on S. Grand Ave?

I would try Global Foods Market in Kirkwood. They seem to have most everything international.

those are thai young coconuts from thailand, they are chemical dipped, to keep them white.
both stores buy low grade toxic material, by carib or us grown coconuts.
young coconuts are only good for 21 days from picking.
research the toxicity of the bath treatments

Global foods doesn't have them. I'd try one of the Indian ethnic good stores and may be try calling them about it.

I know a good cafe on N Euclid where they have it on menu for $4 a glass.

You can buy coconut water already bottled at a number of local grocers. Just be sure to check the label for additives. It's great for hangovers and rehydrating but tastes like sewer water.
