Entertaining article.

EDIT: Wrong Link. I apologize. Correct Link is there now. The headline is making fun of Forbes, but someone can change it if they would like to.

"Yeah, St. Louis is miserable, but what a place to buy a house"

- WOW. Now there is an awesome Chamber of Commerce slogan for a city. Really makes me want to move there!

The original post's link still isn't working. Something is screwy with it. Here's the right link, and a few paragraphs.

Quote:
So, what is it, Forbes?
Is St. Louis miserable? Or a great place to buy a home?
Because they call us both.
Now, normally, we at Building Blocks don’t gives Forbes’ endless top-10 lists much ink. Too often, they seem like a shameless bid for web traffic, and worth little more than the pixels they’re printed on.
But the juxtaposition of two of their most recent efforts struck us as too rich to pass up.

We bought a great house at what we call ghetto prices in what is considered an upscale community.

you can buy a small McMansion for under 500K (median home price of CA and NY)

but I can easily see how the two stories mesh.

The housing options may be one of my favorite things about St Louis...and the very low property taxes. There's affordable options pretty much no matter what you're looking for--brand new development to beautiful older homes.
