I started taking this liquid called Hawthorn Berry a couple of months ago once a day and my high blood pressure has gone back down to normal. I was able to cut way back on my HB meds.

Has anyone else had these results with Hawthorn, or am I just getting a placebo effect?

Hawthorn is commonly used to lower blood pressure and is very effective. It has even been used in yrs past for slowing down the progression of heart failure. If its working keep taking it!

A lot of natural things work great but there is not a lot of info in front of you. Really gotta research it and you will find natural treatments for just about anything. Natural remedies often take a while to kick in unlike the toxic pharm drugs so they give up to easily.

Hi guys!I am a Greek physics professor and I have just found you by google searching about personal experience of use hawthorn to reduce HBP
Thank you for sharing your positive experience!
I have studied a lot of herb books but I think that hawthorn berry is much less effective in lowering BP than leaves and flowers
Anyway,I always want to know the scientific view.So I use the valid medical program uptodate (18.2 last version) to search for medical informations including natural herb therapies.
In order not to give illegal informations u can search about it in Moderator cut: not allowed . To point to the view I wonder If its more confortable and easier to take hawthorn and probably other herbs diluted in wine( LIKE lemon balm and fennel seeds ).A pharmacist specialist in herbs told my that alternatively I can dilute herbs in wine not having additives
So has anybody tried hypotensive herbs diluted in wine;

From http://www.mskcc.org/mskcc/html/69252.cfm: (broken link)
Quote:
Clinical Summary
Derived from the flower, leaves, and fruits of the plant. Hawthorn has been used as an digestive aid in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. But currently, it is used primarily to treat heart failure (10). Placebo controlled clinical studies suggest significant improvement in cardiac function, dyspnea, palpitations for patients with ischemic or hypertensive heart diseases, and for patients with diabetes (13). Conclusions from a meta analysis also indicate that hawthorn may benefit patients with chronic heart failure (14).
Frequently reported adverse events include nausea, sweating, and fatigue. Signs of overdose include hypotension and arrhythmias. An initial reduction in digoxin dose may be required if used concomitantly with hawthorn. Other drug interactions include enhanced response to CNS depressants and anti-hypertensive agents (8).
Also, if you click on the link you can read the studies that have been done on it and it looks pretty promising. When I was having problems with arrhythmias though, I tried hawthorn, and it did help, but olive leaf extract actually made it go away.

Thats perfect!What a reliable site.Thanks for the immediate response.
Ps. The last two months I drink daily about 50 g wine with hawthorn (dried leaves + flowers)+lemon balm leaves +fennel seeds(50+50+50 g/lit).Just experimentally..I have no other reason to do.My -sensitive!-stomach tolerates it very well before lunch/dinner or in the morning.

Yes sir, I love that site--it saves me a lot of wasted time and money. I'm going to look into putting my herbs into wine--if nothing else, it should make it quite pleasant.
