O.k. i know there are many on here who know alot about herbal teas and so i need a recommendation for an morning tea as i usually go to the gym at 5:00 a.m. and yet i need to quit Green Tea as i keep reading about the high amounts of flouride found in it and it's negative effects on the thyroid and i usually average about 10 tea bags thru out the day. Is Peppermint tea o.k.?
Unless you have GERD, peppermint should be very safe.
Peppermint can exacerbate the symptoms of pre-existing GERD/reflux, which is why it can be bothersome to some people. Otherwise, it is very calming to the GI system.

When i go to the store tomorrow i'll check out the herbal tea section as it's quite large and i'll see what all they have as i admit i'm not much up on the herb tea scene as i always just drank Green Tea and i'm dragging in the morning currently as i need something to help wake me up before i hit the gym.
Red Zinger tea. Or any hibiscus tea. It helps with mood and water retention. There are so many herbal teas and blends out there. White tea has less flouride than green or black. When your tea says "peppermint" look at what its actually made of.

Corn silk is pretty good and innocuous, hawthorn is good, a lot of the others are fairly specific. Variety is always important, and ten teabags of the same tea every day is just plain excessive. Ask to see the Balch books in the health food store and review the teas listed there.

To be honest, you should ask this question to people in a British/UK forum. They are heavy tea drinkers and know more of a variety, unlike people here in the West who only know various forms of coffee.
lol... I got to admit, I lived with a family from England for a while and I LOVED the way they spoke English. It was so polished and refined. This is also where I learned how heavily into tea they were. They had a "special tea" for every occasion.

But buying loose leaf tea is the "best" way to get higher quality tea.
Thanks Pitt !!! Lots of good info here. One thing frustrating is that we have no idea if the tea has high levels of flouride or not as i've looked for ''flouride free'' green tea on the net and haven't found any. I'll check out the Red Zinger and White Teas .
