Hey all, I'm 22 and have been going to Syracuse as an undergrad. I plan on staying an extra semester next year so unfortunately all of my friends will have graduated. I currently live in a house off euclid but don't want to try and live with strangers next year in a house & I have no desire to live in a dorm so I decided to start looking early for apartments.
I've never lived alone so I will admit I'm a little scared, especially since the Syracuse area can be rather dodgy in certain places...With that said, I would prefer to live in an apartment complex so that my front door will open to a hallway and not a street. Of course I would also want security and such as well.
My budget is up to ~$700 a month with utilities included, but I'm willing to go higher if it's a matter of security. Also, I have a car so I'm willing to commute, just not too far
I've looked at a few apartments but some of the websites leave a lot to be desired so I can't quite tell much from the pictures. I will be looking at all the apartments in person, but if anyone has helpful information about the location/security/layout of the apartments that would be much appreciated!

-one franklin square
-maplewood garden
-nettleton commons
-lofts on willow
Maplewood Gardens is in a fine area and could work. I know that many of the International students live in Nob Hill and the area is generally quiet. Of course, I would check them out first though.
Just a few notes about some of the apartments you listed and my info on them (everyone has their own comfort levels, so certainly all of this is subjective)...
The James Apartments: if I were a single woman, I would not want to be there.
Lofts on Willow: nice apartments, feels safe, many single tenants live there.
One Franklin Square: nice apartments, neighborhood has a nice feel and it is safe.
Nob Hill: South of the city, I am not a big fan of the area. 1 bedrooms are pretty tiny.
Nettleton Commons: I personally don't like the area. Next to overpass.
