I sort of feel sorry for Utica and Albany metropolitan areas since Wegmans doesn't have any stores in those metropolitan areas.
I like the vibe of Saratoga County up to Lake George area but the Capital District lacks access to the Great Lakes water and a Wegmans, two things Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo all have to their advantage in my opinion. Albany, NY is also only about 200 feet above sea level compared to 300 feet or more in Central and Western NY if you are seeking elevation from rising sea levels due to climate change.
I don't see Wegmans building any more stores in NYS, except maybe in the NYC metro. They seem to be concentrating on the high income, high growth areas
^ I think that is the point behind bellafinzi’s posts, as the timing is in line with the big Micron announcement. Which means more income and growth in the area, if things go as planned(or even close to it). In that sense, you may see one in say southern Oswego County, which doesn’t have one. Places like Fulton or Brewerton(the portion in Oswego County) may be couple of places where it is possible.

Other retailers are watching too, so that's something to consider. Have to see where the development takes place. It's more likely to get a renovation/ expansion than a new location.

Perhaps, as I thought about Whole Foods as a potential store option as well.
Wegmans did build a new store at what they call the John Glenn location on Route 57 in Clay, as I believe that was the first store in the area. So, they have built a brand new store in the area in the recent past. https://maps.app.goo.gl/DbQS63QMGvFMT8xB6?g_st=ic
I forgot to mention that there is a Trader Joe’s on Erie Boulevard East in DeWitt as well.

Unwritten agreement between Wegman's and Price Chopper that Wegman's doesn't operate east of Syracuse and Price Chopper doesn't operate west of Syracuse? This can be the only explanation. I mean if Wegman's can open in North Carolina, they can open in Albany and Utica.

As Wegmans expands into Mass, Albany / Saratoga might fit in along I 90. Maybe 3 or 4 stores.
I thought they were opening one on Long Island but I haven't seen any information lately
There is a store in Lake Grove, Suffolk County. I don't remember hearing about that one. There's also one in Harrison, Westchester C., and Brooklyn. One under development in Manhattan.
