Does anyone know the status of the proposed Umbilical Cord Blood Center? During the last election cycle, as part of his typical gimmicks, State Sen John DeFrancisco claimed he was influential in securing $10 million from NYS. It was later announced that SUNY Upstate would serve as a partner in the project. When control of the Senate switched from Republicans to Democrats and Spitzer was elected governor, this project stalled. Recently, governor Patterson announced $600 million in stimulus money for medical research. GOV SITE - GOVERNOR PATERSON ANNOUNCES MORE THAN $600 MILLION IN STIMULUS GRANTS FOR NEW YORK RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS According to this press release, CNY got a paltry $13 million of this funding. It would seem that the proposed blood cord center would be a perfect use of stimulus money.
wow..new york state always screws the syracuse area over...they gave the whole central new york 13 million and University at Buffalo got 14 million...thats bull...Rochester, Buffalo, NYC, Albany and Long Island always get the majority of the money from NYS...they barely give money to Syracuse...Most of what Syracuse has is privately owned and privately funded mainly Syracuse University...anyways..NYS wants to spend 600 million and we are in a 3.1 billion dollar deficit....realllllll smart....why dont you jack up the taxes some more gov. patterson.
