My boyfriend and I are planning on moving to the Syracuse area in probably a month or so because he has a job opportunity.
I've already looked through these forums but I wanted to ask myself.
I've been looking online for apartments and I've found some that are decently priced but when I look for reviews on apartmentratings.com or apartmentreviews.net, they always have horrible reviews. I'm starting to get very discouraged..I just wanted peoples own opinions on maybe apartments that they've lived at. We're willing to move to Syracuse or maybe Oneida. I prefer Syracuse because I might to be going to SU.
Anyway, we're looking for 1br apartments (maybe even townhomes if those are better) that are no more than $700 with good and safe neighborhoods.
I will appreciate any honest opinions, thank you so much!

Westminster Place - Liverpool NY | Dawn Homes Management

You may want to check out Westminter Place on Morgan Road in Liverpool, they are very nice and I have friends that live there. It seems to be right in your price range and the rent includes cable. There is a Golds Gym right next door, but they do have a full service gym, club house and pool. You will have to drive a few minutes to rt 57, rt 31 and the Village of Liverpool for shopping, restaurants and services. There is easy access to the NYS Thruway around the corner on rt 57. Dawnhomes also manages other apartments in the Syracuse area listed on the right of the link. Good luck!

Hi there, do you know the area, and are you able to pay $700 per week or per month, another option would be to contact one of the local churches, and get their advice, do you have people you can trust who live in syracuse, or not, don't get discouraged, it is not easy with the accommodation situation, if you need support and friendship find a local church, In Australia it is slightly diffeerent from the US, where I live.
all the best, let me know what happens, regards Bevey

The "apartment complexes" in Syracuse were generally built in the 70s and are kind of gross. Some of the ones in the suburbs might be newer. I find them very depressing and isolating.

There is a huge stock of 1890s - 1920s two family houses that are inexpensive, enormous, and depending on the neighborhood are in good shape. These aren't converted single-family houses, they were originally built as 1-up 1-down duplex houses and are very well built. The usually have front and back stairs, a bathroom, kitchen, dining, living room, and 2-3 bedrooms. They can be a little dated inside though. You could easily get a 1100 square foot, 2-bed apartment in on of these houses in Tipp Hill, Westcott or Eastwood in your $700/mo range.

Here is an example... I'm only posting this ad because its recent; I have no connection to this property: Lower flat on quiet street (http://syracuse.craigslist.org/apa/1677137257.html - broken link)
