Thanks, Claurenzo. Very helpful

I have bad experience with movers too, especially when I moved from Canada to Mexico, I paid for a door-to-door service.... and they held all my belongings in hostage, not wanting to do the formalities, and of course I had to pay for the storage , they were threatening me to sell my stuff in auction . I had to go twice to Toronto, and finally hire another company. But I have antics and stuff coming from France and Africa... can't be replaced.

Now they ARE in Mexico, and hopefully they will come here some time. I had a company packing all (it took 3 days)... I had to unpack and repack everything. First it was very badly done, THEN they put 2 or 3 things together in a big box, so it becomes a big volume! Plus a high weight. They are again in a storage, but they do only storage, and I will be there when I am ready to retrieve them.

Unfortunately, I can't hire a truck and drive . But I have been told about uship... I don't really understand how it works, but it is worth trying harder! I will also try Penske to get them from Miami or whatever they will arrive.

Yes, it is a lot of money, I know...

Another way you can do it call PODS or similar company, they bring you a storage container, you pack it yourself and i think they have ability to ship it to your destination and then you unload yourself.

For me, i did not have an option to do move myself, as i was alone (so no help loading/unloading stuff) i had to bring car with me (haul car with uhaul or similar is a pain, also i never towed anything so that would be brnad new) and i did not know where i'm going to live, i came into hotel and then looked for apartments.

Self move is the cheapest and safest way to do it, but not everyone can do that.
