So we want to find an apartment for $2000 or less in the Tampa Bay area where we can walk down from our apartment and have shopping, restaurants and a grocery store all nearby within walking distance. I have been using the Walk Score website and I'm not finding too much. Any suggestions?

try rent.com

....the "walking" part is your problem...you will have to give that up or drive around a LOT to find such thing.....

Carrollwood has shopping close to homes, but I don't know of any apartments there that are in walking distance to anything.

$2,000 or less for an apartment? Walking distance to grocery stores, retail, and restaurants? LOL...this is Tampa not Manhattan.

Apartments here are not $2,000 a month. And good luck with the walking thing. Around here even if you are close enough to walk you will not want to because it is not a friendy place for walkers. In most areas there are little or no sidewalks and everyone is driving 50+ miles an hour.

Maybe you can look in downtown Tampa, south Tampa, etc but I still do not think you will really find what you are looking for in Tampa. This is not a "city" like New York, Boston, Chicago, etc with a condensed metro area, public transportation, big buildings, and things like that.

Downtown or Harbour Island maybe. Closest grocery would be the Publix across the bridge. Channelside if you are willing to bike.

I agree about downtown St. Pete ^^^. The only thing is, it depends on what kind of "shopping" you need to walk to. Otherwise, there is Publix grocery, gourmet stores, cafes, restaurants, etc. all within walking distance. There are some nice condos right downtown that you could probably rent.
