Really over the top Vegas style grocery stores and the employees were pretty decent. However, when you really break down Wegmans, and get past all the glamour and gilitter of the actual store, it's a pretty crappy grocery store. The bakery items were always very low quality and tasted horrible. A lot of the meat items came in vacuum packed plastic pouches that made the meat look really old and I never used to shop there for meats. The seafood counter was good. The prices were average and the sales were non-existent. Their "deli" was a joke; I don't recall what meats they sold, but they did not have Boars Head.

The one thing they did have was a spectacular produce section.

But I prefer Publix any day of the week. At Publix I can find a lot more international items, much better meats, much better bakery items. And Publix still has the best employees of any store in the US, IMHO.

Wegmans will never come here. There is way too much grocer competition, a lot more than in Wegmans' core areas up North.
Interesting to hear this point of view. So many rave and rave about Wegman's..... Frankly I don't like to shop for groceries in a "cathedral" sized stores. The Publix stores where I shop are plenty huge and have just about anything I could ever want. They even carry different items to cater to neighborhood demographics, and will order almost anything you want. For a grocery store, I don't think any can beat their bakery, and they have a good deli and GREAT rotisserie and fried chicken. And Publix gives me my diabetes medicine for free.

On some other state threads, I see plenty of people pining for a Publix where they live. People don't realize how much they miss it until they move away.

I wish we had Rubio's here:
Fish Tacos | Mexican Food | Mexican Restaurants | Rubio's
On Tuesdays they have fish Tacos for $1.50.

An In-N-Out wouldn't be bad either.

We have enough burger and mexican places here, we certainly dont need more chain restaurants.

We had fatburger here and they flopped too.

In n out would just be another flash in the pan here in a very saturated market.

u have a good point. there are a gazillion chains here. there are soooo many places to eat. this region is like a petri dish for restaurant operators. the problem is that most of the chains that we have gotten here SUCK.

for example, i would have no problem if tijuana flats/moes/chipotle all disappeared in exchange for baja fresh/del taco/taco cabana, which are all superior.

i would have no problem if many of the grocery stores here closed (except publix), and trader joes opened, which is superior to most stores

fatburger was great, i don't know why people didn't flock there; fatburger draws a MASS CULT FOLLOWING out West

as for In-N-Out Burger, well, you can close down BK, Mickey Ds, Wendys, any and all other dirty-ass burger places, b/c In-N-Out is the BEST of the BEST.

I dont think McD, BK, Wendys would go along with that.

What do you all think needs to be where?
An Uncle Giuseppe's Market Place, and a NY deli that can make a good egg sandwich. I don't care where they are located.
